Prof. Dr. Saroj Mandal is a Professor of Civil Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India. Earlier he served as Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Technology and former Head of the Civil Engineering Department at Jadavpur University, Kolkata. He also served as the Vice-President (East) of the Indian Concrete Institute (ICI) from 2022 to 2024. His research interests encompass advanced concrete technologies, including high-performance concrete, recycled aggregate concrete, fiber reinforced concrete, geopolymer concrete, and bacterial concrete, with funding support from various government and private agencies. A pioneer in the field of bacterial concrete, Prof. Dr. Saroj Mandal holds both Indian and US patents for his innovative work. He has authored 75 peer-reviewed publications in leading journals and conference proceedings and is an active reviewer for several international journals. In addition to his academic contributions, Prof. Dr. Saroj Mandal has undertaken numerous consultancy projects for government and private organisations. He is affiliated with several professional bodies, including Institution of Engineers, Indian Concrete Institute, International Center for Fiber Reinforced Concrete, Indian Society of Wind Engineering, and Indian Society for Technical Education. Furthermore, he is a member of the technical committee CED-TC-2 of the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), New Delhi, India.
