Merdeka 118 is located near Stadium Merdeka, the building symbolises national independence, with the name “Merdeka” reflecting Malaysia’s historical and cultural heritage.
Standing at 678.9 metres with 118 storeys, Merdeka 118 is the second-tallest building in the world, after the Burj Khalifa. The building was completed in November 2023 and officially opened on 10 January 2024, making it a valuable case study for modern supertall building design and construction.

During the technical visit, participants will be exposed to the design concepts, construction methodologies, and advanced building systems implemented to support a supertall structure. The visit aims to enhance participant’s understanding of how engineering principles are applied in real-life projects, particularly for complex high-rise developments.
Participants will have the opportunity to visit the upper floors, where they can experience panoramic views of Kuala Lumpur while gaining insights into the structural and architectural challenges associated with supertall buildings.
